Turning Journeys Into Pathways
Charmaine Defensor
With a varied career across entrepreneurship, culinary arts, healthcare, and education, I am driven by a passion for empowering others to pursue meaningful futures. My journey reflects adaptability, cross-cultural resilience, and a purposeful evolution toward roles that create impact.
A graduate of Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Marketing Management and a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Business (New Zealand, 2017). Before moving to New Zealand, I established a food catering business in the Philippines, supported by formal training in Culinary Arts and hands-on experience from a culinary training in the U.S.
In New Zealand, I balanced roles as a part-time chef during studies and later full-time, honing creativity and resilience. Seeking deeper purpose, I transitioned to caregiving for individuals with disabilities, where I championed empathy and advocacy. A pivotal shift occurred during my pregnancy, when I embraced education and mentorship, guiding aspiring students and professionals, particularly migrants, to navigate study, career, and migration pathways in New Zealand.
Today, I merge my diverse expertise, from marketing and culinary arts to healthcare and cross-cultural education, into a mission to inspire others, bridge opportunities, and turn ambitions into reality. My story is one of reinvention, fueled by the belief that every challenge is a stepping stone to growth.
